  • 1 bunch Cilantro Fresh herb providing vibrant flavor and aroma.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Adds depth and a pungent kick.
  • 2 medium Green chiles Introduces heat and spice; adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder Offers earthy warmth to the sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder Complements the cilantro’s flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili flakes Enhances spiciness; adjust according to preference.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom powder Adds a hint of sweetness and complexity.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Essential for enhancing all other flavors.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper Provides additional seasoning.
  • 1/2 cup Olive oil Adds richness and helps blend the ingredients.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Combine cilantro, garlic, green chiles, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili flakes, cardamom powder, salt, and pepper in a heavy-duty blender or food processor and pulse until roughly chopped.
  2. Start adding olive oil very slowly while running the blender.
  3. Stop a few times to scrape down the sides. Continue blending until all the olive oil has been added and the mixture is thick, mostly smooth, with some texture.
  4. Check the flavor and adjust by mixing in more spice powders if needed. Enjoy.

Notes

Zhoug sauce is perfect for meal prepping and can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week. Can be frozen in small portions for later use.
