Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Sweetens the bread.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Adds richness and moisture.

  • 3 very ripe bananas Provides natural sweetness and moisture.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream Adds moisture and a slight tang.
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour The main structure of the bread.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Gives the deep chocolate flavor.
  • 1 tsp baking powder Helps the bread rise.
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda Assists in leavening the bread.
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt Balances and enhances flavors.
Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips Adds rich chocolate flavor.
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Offers a classic chocolate taste.
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips Adds a touch of sweetness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Line a standard 9x5 loaf pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the two longer sides.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar and butter.
  4. Whisk in the eggs and vanilla until combined.
  5. Stir in the mashed bananas and sour cream.
Combining Mixtures
  1. Add in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; stir until just incorporated.
  2. Gently fold in all 3 kinds of chocolate chips.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  4. Optionally, top with more chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 60-70 minutes.
  2. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for best results. Don’t overmix the batter, and check for doneness early.
