Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Place the unbaked pie crust in a pie dish and poke the bottom a few times with a fork.
Cooking
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until fully browned.
- Remove any extra grease from the skillet.
- Stir in taco seasoning, dried minced onion, water, and salsa.
- Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until thickened.
- Fold in half of the shredded cheese.
- Spread refried beans in the bottom of the pie crust.
- Top the beans with the beef mixture.
- Sprinkle crushed tortilla chips on top.
- Top with the remaining cheese.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until crust is golden and filling is bubbly.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Garnishing
- Garnish with fresh cilantro, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeno, sour cream, or hot sauce as desired.
Notes
Taco Pie is meal-prep friendly and can be assembled in advance. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
