Ingredients

For the Strawberry Layer
  • 2 cups Fresh Strawberries Sweet and vibrant, perfect for layering.
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar Enhances the sweetness of strawberries.
For the Shortcake
  • 1 batch Shortcake Buttery and crumbly; homemade or store-bought.
For the Whipped Cream
  • 1 cup Whipped Cream Light and fluffy, adds a creamy texture.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Adds depth and aroma to the layers.
For Garnish
  • a few Mint Leaves Optional, for freshness and color.

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash and slice the fresh strawberries. Toss them in a bowl with granulated sugar and let them sit for about 15 minutes to release their juices.
  2. Bake your favorite shortcake recipe or use store-bought shortcake for convenience. Allow it to cool completely before crumbling it into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whip cream until soft peaks form. Add vanilla extract and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
Assembly
  1. In a jar, layer the crumbled shortcake, a layer of strawberries (with juices), and then a generous dollop of whipped cream.
  2. Repeat the layers until the jar is nearly full, finishing with whipped cream on top.
Chill and Serve
  1. Cover the jars with lids and chill them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Serve cold, optionally garnished with fresh mint leaves.

Notes

For a flavor boost, try macerating strawberries overnight with sugar for a richer flavor. You can prepare these jars a day in advance. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
