Ingredients

For the Strawberry Filling
  • 4 cups Fresh Strawberries, sliced For vibrant flavor and natural sweetness.
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar To enhance the sweetness of the strawberries.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice Brightens the flavors and adds a touch of acidity.
For the Buttermilk Biscuits
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour The base for the biscuits, providing texture.
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder Ensures the biscuits rise beautifully.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Balances the sweetness and enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, cold and cubed Adds a rich, buttery taste to the biscuits.
  • 3/4 cup Buttermilk Creates tender biscuits with a slight tang.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced fresh strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Let this mixture sit for about 10 minutes to macerate.
Biscuit Preparation
  1. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the buttermilk gradually, stirring until just combined.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Pour the strawberry mixture into a baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  2. Scoop spoonfuls of biscuit dough over the strawberries, making sure to cover the mixture partially.
  3. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  4. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a flavor boost, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the biscuit mixture. Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor; frozen berries may release too much moisture. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
