Ingredients

For the filling
  • 4 cups Fresh Strawberries Washed and sliced
  • 1 cup Sugar To balance the tartness
For the biscuit topping
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour Provides structure
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder Helps biscuits rise
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavor
  • 1/2 cup Buttermilk Adds richness
  • 1/2 cup Butter Cold, cubed

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wash and slice the fresh strawberries. Place them in a mixing bowl and toss with sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to draw out the juices.
  3. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  4. Add cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until the dough comes together.
Baking
  1. In a baking dish, pour the macerated strawberries along with their juices, spreading them out evenly.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of biscuit dough over the strawberries, covering as much as possible.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the berries are bubbly.
  4. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh strawberries and make sure your butter is very cold. Consider adding a splash of vanilla extract for extra flavor.
