Method
 

Preparation
  1. Combine all of the ingredients except for the cornstarch mixture in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat while stirring regularly.
  3. Continue stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Stir in the cornstarch mixture while stirring continually.
  5. Keep stirring for about a minute until the sauce thickens.
  6. Let the sauce cool completely, then pour it into an airtight jar and store it in the fridge.

Notes

This sauce can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. For a burst of freshness, consider adding a splash of lime juice just before serving. Adjust the heat by using more or less red chili paste.
