Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add butter and oil until melted and hot.
Cooking
  1. Add the green beans to the skillet and sauté for 2 minutes.
  2. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for approximately 3 minutes more.
  3. Remove the lid and continue to sauté until the green beans are browned in spots and quite tender, anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes more.
  4. After sautéing, add garlic, salt, and pepper to the beans.
  5. Stir and cook for another 30-60 seconds until the garlic is fragrant.
  6. Remove from heat and incorporate lemon zest, then serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic. Don’t overcrowd the skillet; cook in batches if necessary. Experiment by adding chopped nuts for added crunch.
