Preparation
  1. Step 1: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook pasta according to package directions, aiming for al dente. Drain well, do not rinse.
  2. Step 2: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Step 3: Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
  4. Step 4: Gradually add milk, cream, and broth a little at a time, whisking until smooth after each addition.
  5. Step 5: Stir in dry mustard, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, ground black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, hot sauce, and pumpkin puree. Cook over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil. Boil for 1 minute while whisking.
