Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice the onions into ½-inch thick rings and separate them.
- Set up your breading station: Place flour in one bowl, egg whites in a second, and a mix of breadcrumbs and seasonings in a third.
Breading
- Dredge each onion ring in flour, dip in egg whites, then coat in the breadcrumb mixture.
Baking
- Place the coated onion rings on the prepared baking sheet and spray lightly with olive oil.
- Bake for 15 minutes, flip each ring, then bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a flavor boost, marinate onion rings in buttermilk for an hour before coating. To store, keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge, or freeze uncooked for up to 2 months.
