Ingredients

Cake Ingredients
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour Forms the base of the cake.
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar Provides sweetness and structure.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter Adds richness and moisture.
  • 3 large Eggs Crucial for binding and leavening.
  • 1 cup Milk Contributes to a tender texture.
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder Ensures the cake rises perfectly.
  • 1/2 cup Cocoa powder Brings the chocolate flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk until well combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Divide the batter in half. In one half, stir in the cocoa powder.
  8. Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared loaf pan. Use a knife to gently swirl them together for a marbled effect.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.

Notes

For best results, avoid overmixing the batter and always preheat the oven. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
