Preparation
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water, covering and setting aside for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine salt, garlic powder, and half of the flour.
- Stir in the warm water and yeast mixture along with the olive oil, gradually adding the remaining flour until an elastic dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 3 to 5 minutes, adding flour as needed.
- Oil a large bowl, place the dough inside, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise until doubled in size (30-60 minutes).
Cooking
- Preheat the oven to 450°F. Optionally, place a pizza stone in the oven to preheat.
- Punch down the dough gently and spread it into a 12-inch circle on a floured pizza pan, poking holes with a fork to prevent bubbling.
- Drizzle olive oil on the dough, then spread pizza sauce, mozzarella, and chosen toppings.
- Bake for 13 to 15 minutes until cheese is melted and crust is browned.
- Remove from oven, garnish with parsley, Parmesan, and red pepper flakes, slice, and serve.
Notes
Allow the dough to rise in a warm area. Experiment with toppings for personalization.
