Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a shallow plate, combine the chicken with cornstarch, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a jug, whisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, ground ginger, Chinese five spice, and chili powder.
  3. Pour 2 heaping tablespoons of the sauce over the chicken, mix, and let it sit for 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Warm a non-stick skillet over medium heat, adding a drizzle of sesame oil if necessary.
  2. Add the chicken in a single layer and cook for 4 to 5 minutes.
  3. Stir and cook for an additional 4 to 6 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked.
  4. Incorporate the remaining hoisin sauce and simmer for 2 minutes until thickened.
Serving
  1. Serve the hoisin chicken over rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

This hoisin chicken is perfect for meal prep and can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days. To freeze, do so without the sauce and store the chicken in airtight bags for up to 3 months.
