Ingredients

For the Bruschetta
  • 1 loaf crusty Italian bread Provides a sturdy base with a crispy exterior and soft interior.
  • 1 clove garlic Adds a pungent, aromatic kick to the dish.
  • 4 medium Roma tomatoes Strikingly juicy and flavorful; essential for the topping.
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil Brings richness and flavor, enhancing the overall dish.
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves Offers a fresh, herbal note uplifting the bruschetta.
  • to taste sea salt Enhances the flavors of all ingredients and brings them together.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the grill. Set your grill to high heat to prepare for grilling the bread.
  2. Slice the bread. Cut the loaf of crusty Italian bread in half horizontally to create two long pieces.
  3. Brush with olive oil. Apply about 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the cut side of each piece of bread.
Grilling
  1. Lower the grill heat. Reduce the grill heat to medium to prevent burning the bread.
  2. Grill the bread. Place the bread cut-side down on the grill and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, keeping a close watch to avoid burning.
  3. Rub with garlic. Take the halved garlic clove and rub it against the cut sides of the warm bread, allowing the heat to release the garlic flavor.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil. Use the remaining olive oil to drizzle over the top of the grilled bread.
Assembly
  1. Layer tomatoes. Evenly layer the sliced Roma tomatoes on top of the grilled bread.
  2. Add basil and salt. Sprinkle the dish with sliced chiffonade basil and a pinch of sea salt for added flavor.
  3. Slice and serve. Cut the bruschetta into wedges and serve immediately, enjoying while it's warm.

Notes

Pro Tips for Best Results: Use a high-quality olive oil for the best flavor. Let the bread cool slightly before rubbing with garlic to avoid burning your fingers. Experiment with different types of tomatoes for varied flavor profiles. Consider adding a drizzle of balsamic glaze for a sweet finish.
