Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined For easy grilling and eating.
  • 3 tablespoons BBQ sauce Adds sweetness and smokiness, enhancing the shrimp flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil Helps to keep the shrimp moist and adds richness.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Provides mild smokiness and color to the dish.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adds a savory depth of flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances all the other flavors in the dish.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Offers a slight kick and balance to the sweetness of the sauce.

Method

Preparation
  1. Soak the skewers. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  2. Preheat the grill. Heat the grill or grill pan to medium-high and lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  3. Season the shrimp. In a large bowl, combine the shrimp with 3 tablespoons of BBQ sauce, olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat thoroughly.
  4. Thread the shrimp. Slide 5 to 6 shrimp onto each skewer, ensuring they are securely placed.
Grilling
  1. Cook the shrimp for 2 minutes on one side without moving them.
  2. Turn the shrimp over and brush with additional BBQ sauce.
  3. Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the shrimp turn opaque pink and curl into a loose 'C'.
Serving
  1. Serve the grilled skewers immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

For best results, marinate the shrimp for at least 30 minutes. Monitor cooking time closely to avoid overcooking; shrimp cook quickly. Experiment with different BBQ sauces for varied flavors.
