Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 4 pieces skinless chicken breasts Main protein source, providing tenderness and juiciness.
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt Adds creaminess while marinating, tenderizing the chicken.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice Provides acidity for flavor and helps tenderize the meat.
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest Intensifies the lemon flavor, adding freshness.
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves Adds aromatic depth and flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Contributes a sweet and smoky flavor profile.
  • 1 teaspoon cumin Adds warmth and earthiness to the marinade.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Enhances flavor with a hint of sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Essential for seasoning and flavor enhancement.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Adds a mild spicy kick.
  • 1/4 cup freshly chopped cilantro or parsley Provides freshness and vibrancy to the marinade and garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the yogurt, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic, paprika, cumin, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cilantro.
  2. Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  3. Place the chicken in a gallon-size resealable bag and pour the yogurt marinade over it.
  4. Press out any excess air and seal the bag carefully. Rub the chicken breasts to ensure they are well coated.
  5. Let it marinate for at least 45 minutes or up to 24 hours for deeper flavors.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the grill or oven to 425°F (medium-high heat).
  2. For outdoor grilling, cook the chicken for 5 to 7 minutes per side until the thickest part reaches 165°F.
  3. For oven baking, place chicken on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  4. Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a plate and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing or serving.

Notes

Marinate overnight for the best flavor infusion. Ensure the chicken is patted dry before applying the marinade for better adhesion.
