Wet Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup Butter Softened for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup Sugar Granulated sugar.
  • 1 large Egg Acts as a binder.
  • 1/2 cup Molasses For depth of flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and molasses to the butter mixture, mixing until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes for easier handling.
Baking
  1. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are firm and the cookies are slightly puffed.
  4. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
