Base Ingredients
  • 2 cups Fresh Strawberries, hulled and chopped Use ripe strawberries for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Sugar Balances the tartness.
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice Adds brightness to the flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Enhances overall sweetness.
  • 1 pinch Salt Brings out flavors.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Rinse the fresh strawberries under cold water and remove the stems.
  2. Slice the strawberries into small pieces and place them in a medium saucepan.
  3. Add sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the strawberries.
Cooking
  1. Cook over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries begin to break down and release their juices.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for another 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool before serving or storing.

Notes

This sauce can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for up to a week. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
