Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cookie sheet with parchment or a silpat liner.
- In a small skillet over medium-low heat, melt the butter.
- Add the diced apples, cinnamon, and granulated sugar into the skillet.
- Stir occasionally until the apples begin to turn translucent, about 15 minutes.
- Allow the mixture to cool for at least 10 minutes.
- Unroll the crescent rolls on a cutting board, keeping them in a rectangle.
Cooking
- Press the seams of the crescent rolls together to form one large rectangle.
- Evenly distribute the apple mixture over the prepared crescent rolls.
- Tightly roll up the dough into a log shape.
- Cut into 8 equal portions.
- Arrange the slices on the lined cookie sheet.
- Bake in the oven until golden on top, about 15-25 minutes.
Serving
- In a skillet, melt butter with brown sugar and stir for 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat, whisk in powdered sugar, then add vanilla and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream.
- Adjust the frosting by adding more cream for a desired consistency.
Notes
Use crisp, tart apples like Granny Smith for the best flavor contrast. Ensure the filling cools before spreading it on the dough to prevent sogginess.
