Preparation
- In a small bowl, stir together cream cheese, shredded Cheddar cheese, heavy cream, and 1/4 teaspoon salt until thoroughly combined. Set aside.
- In another bowl, stir together mayonnaise, minced garlic, and remaining salt. Set aside.
Assembly
- Grab your Texas Toast and place 2 slices of cheddar cheese on each slice of bread.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on top of the 4 cheddar slices.
- Top each with 2 slices of provolone cheese.
- Add the remaining bread slices on top.
- Spread half of the mayonnaise mixture evenly over the tops of the sandwiches.
- Flip over and spread the other half on the bottom of the sandwiches.
Cooking
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
- Place sandwiches in the skillet.
- Cook sandwiches until golden brown on both sides, flipping occasionally until cheese is melted and bread is well toasted.
Notes
For best results, use freshly shredded cheese. Customize with ingredients like tomatoes or bacon to enhance flavor. Serve hot with tomato soup or fresh salad.
