Cheese Mixture

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise Adds creaminess and helps bind the flavors together.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced Infuses the mayonnaise with savory goodness.
Bread
  • 8 slices Texas Toast bread Forms the base, allowing for a crispy and hearty texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, stir together cream cheese, shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, heavy cream, and 1/4 teaspoon salt until thoroughly combined; set aside.
  2. In another bowl, stir together mayonnaise, minced garlic, and remaining salt; set aside.
Assembly
  1. Grab 4 slices of Texas Toast bread and place 2 slices of Cheddar cheese on each piece.
  2. Spread the prepared cream cheese mixture evenly over the top of the Cheddar slices.
  3. Top each sandwich with 2 slices of provolone cheese.
  4. Close the sandwiches by adding the remaining bread slices on top.
  5. Spread half of the mayonnaise mixture evenly over the tops of the sandwiches.
  6. Flip the sandwiches and spread the other half of the mayonnaise on the bottoms.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides, flipping occasionally until cheese is melted and bread is well toasted.

Notes

For best results, use freshly shredded cheese and don't rush the cooking process. Experiment with additional fillings like sautéed onions or jalapeños for added flavor.
