- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and garlic; sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and become golden, approximately 6-8 minutes.
- Pour in vegetable broth and bring to a simmer, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in heavy cream and thyme, allowing the sauce to simmer until thickened, around 5-7 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
Notes
For extra flavor, try using a mix of different mushrooms. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage.
