Ingredients

For the banana chips
  • 2 pieces firm bananas (slightly underripe) Provides the perfect sweetness and holds its shape during cooking.
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or melted butter Adds richness and helps the cinnamon-sugar stick to the banana slices.
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar Enhances sweetness and contributes to the crispy texture.
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon Offers warm spice and depth of flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 300°F (150°C) for 5 minutes.
  2. Peel the bananas and slice them into ⅛-inch-thick rounds.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Gently toss the banana slices with the melted coconut oil or butter, ensuring each piece is lightly coated.
  5. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the coated banana slices, tossing gently to ensure even coverage.
  6. Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap.
Cooking
  1. Air fry the banana slices for 15 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Monitor closely to prevent burning.
  2. Once golden brown and crisp, remove the banana chips from the air fryer and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, consider adding a pinch of sea salt to the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Store leftover banana chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. For longer storage, freeze raw banana slices coated in oil and sugar mixture.
