  • 2 tbsp Additional Milk Ensures your glaze is smooth and pourable.
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract (for glaze) Enhances the sweetness and flavor of the icing.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  4. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until combined.
  6. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with milk until a smooth batter forms.
Cooking
  1. Spread half of the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and additional ground cinnamon for the filling.
  3. Sprinkle the cinnamon-brown sugar mixture over the batter and add nuts if using.
  4. Spoon the remaining batter over the filling and gently spread to cover.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  6. Let the bars cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Serving
  1. While the bars are cooling, make the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bars, allowing it to set slightly.
  3. Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature.
  4. Consider pairing with fresh fruit or a dollop of yogurt for a well-rounded snack.
