Ingredients
  

For the Sandwich Base
  • 8 slices high-quality soft white sandwich bread For a light and fluffy base
  • 1 English cucumber English cucumber Provides refreshing crunch and flavor
For the Cream Cheese Spread
  • 8 oz cream cheese Serves as a creamy base for the spread
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise Adds richness to the cream cheese spread
  • 2 tbsp minced fresh dill Gives a burst of fresh, herbal flavor
  • 2 tbsp minced fresh chives Enhances the spread with mild onion flavor
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice Adds a touch of brightness and acidity

For Decoration

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Remove crusts from the bread slices.
  2. Using a 3-inch Christmas tree cookie cutter, cut 2 tree shapes from each slice.
  3. Using a tiny star cookie cutter, cut 32 stars from the bell pepper.
  4. Cut the cucumber into 1/8-inch thin slices using a mandolin or sharp knife, then cut each slice in half.
  5. In a medium bowl, blend together softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, minced fresh dill, minced fresh chives, lemon juice, garlic powder, and coarse salt until smooth.
Assembly
  1. Spread one side of each tree shape with the herbed cream cheese.
  2. Arrange the cucumber slices on top of the cream cheese in a shingled fashion.
  3. Place bell pepper stars at the top of the cucumbers.
  4. Serve immediately.

Notes

These sandwiches can be prepared in advance, but it's best to assemble them just before serving to keep the bread fresh. Store the cream cheese spread separately if made ahead of time.
