Ingredients

For the Chicken
  • 1 lb Chicken Breast Cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour For coating
  • 1 large Egg Beaten for coating
  • 1 cup Oil For frying
For the Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor
  • 1 tbsp Zest of Orange Adds depth to the sauce
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce For savory flavor
  • 2 tbsp Honey Enhances sweetness
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced for flavor
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Grated for warmth

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a bowl, combine chicken, soy sauce, ginger, and garlic. Let marinate for 20 minutes.
  3. In one bowl, beat the egg. In another bowl, add flour. Dip each chicken piece in egg, then coat with flour.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. In a saucepan, combine orange juice, honey, soy sauce, and orange zest. Cook over medium heat until thickened slightly.
  4. Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Plate the orange chicken and garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

For extra crispiness, double fry the chicken. Substitute orange juice with mandarin juice for a sweeter flavor. Serve with steamed rice for a complete meal.
