Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Spray a 9 x 5-inch loaf baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
Mixing
  1. In a separate bowl, combine milk and egg.
  2. Stir the milk mixture into the flour mixture along with melted unsalted butter until just combined.
  3. Gently fold in shredded cheddar cheese.

  1. Transfer the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  2. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. For a darker top, turn the oven to broil on HIGH for 1-2 minutes at the end.
Serving

  2. Brush the garlic butter mixture over the top of the bread right after it comes out of the oven. Let it rest for about 10 minutes before removing from the pan and slicing.

Notes

Cool the bread slightly before slicing for cleaner cuts. Experiment by adding cooked bacon or chives for more flavor.
