Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined.
  3. Scrape down the bowl to ensure even mixing.
Mixing
  1. Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  2. Pour in the milk or cream, starting with a small amount, and beat on medium-high speed for 3-5 minutes until fluffy.
  3. If the frosting is too thick, add more milk, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
Storage
  1. Once ready, use immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Make in bulk and customize with various flavors and colors. Store in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for up to three months. Rewhip if frozen.
