Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Spray an 8x8 inch baking dish with non-stick baking spray and set it aside.
Making the Brownies
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate and butter in 30-second increments, stirring in between until fully melted.
- Pour the melted chocolate/butter mixture into a larger bowl and add cocoa powder, espresso powder (if using), and salt; stir until well mixed.
- Stir in both granulated sugar and dark brown sugar until combined.
- Whisk in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract and oil until fully mixed.
- Carefully fold in the flour and half of the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool for 15-30 minutes in the baking dish.
Making the Frosting
- Beat softened butter, vanilla, and salt on medium speed until creamy; gradually add confectioners sugar one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until blended.
- Beat in heavy cream on high speed for 2 minutes until fluffy.
Finishing Touches
- Once the brownies are completely cooled, spread the frosting generously on top.
- Cut into squares and enjoy your delicious creation.
Notes
For best results, use high-quality chocolate, allow brownies to cool completely before frosting, and consider adding colored sprinkles for decoration.
