Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed Provides a protein-packed base for the hummus.
  • 1 large ripe avocado Adds creaminess and rich flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice Offers a bright tartness that enhances taste.
Flavor Enhancers
  • 2 tablespoons tahini Contributes to a nutty flavor and smooth texture.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adds depth with a hint of spice.
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander Provides warm undertones to the flavor profile.
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper Introduces a slight heat for balance.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin Enhances the overall earthy flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt Balances all the flavors, enhancing the taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the chickpeas. To remove the skin from the chickpeas, gently 'pinch' each bean, then add them into your food processor. Discard the skins. This step is optional but will make the hummus smoother.
Cooking
  1. Add reserved chickpeas, avocado, lemon juice, tahini, and all of your seasonings to the food processor.
  2. Blend until smooth, stopping to scrape the sides of the food processor with a spatula as needed.
  3. While blending, add 2-3 tablespoons of water to thin out the hummus to your desired texture.
  4. Taste test and adjust seasonings to your liking, adding more garlic or lemon if preferred.
Serving
  1. Plate the hummus in a serving bowl, garnish with reserved chickpeas, a drizzle of olive oil, and a sprinkle of smoked paprika.
  2. Enjoy with crunchy veggies and/or high-quality chips.

Notes

For best results, remove chickpea skins for a smoother dip and taste test before serving to adjust flavors. Can be served with fresh vegetable sticks or grain-based snacks.
