- Halve the avocado, remove the pit, and slice it thinly.
- Butter one side of each bread slice with softened butter.
Assembly
- Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in a cold pan.
- Layer with Monterey Jack cheese, avocado slices, salt, black pepper, and cheddar cheese.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
Cooking
- Turn the heat to medium and cook until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted, flipping once.
