Preparation
  1. Roll out the pie crust. Place it in your pie plate and refrigerate until ready.
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into manageable pieces.
  3. In a pot, add one inch of water, then cook the apples for 3-5 minutes until they become opaque.
  4. In a bowl, mix the crumb ingredients until coarse crumbs form.
Cooking
  1. Drain the apples and let them cool briefly after cooking.
  2. Place the cooled apples into the pie crust and sprinkle them with sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Cover the apples evenly with the crumb mixture.
  4. Place in the preheated oven at 425°F for 10 minutes, then lower the temperature to 350°F and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes, removing the crust shield during the last 15 minutes.
