Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 medium ripe bananas Choose medium ripe bananas with some brown spots for optimal sweetness.
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice Used to brush on the bananas, preventing browning and adding a zesty kick.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances the natural flavors of the bananas.
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar Optional for adding a sweet, spiced touch to the finished chips.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the air fryer to the lowest temperature, about 250°F.
  2. Cut the bananas into thin, even rounds, approximately ⅛ to ¼ inch thick.
  3. Place the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each piece.
  4. Lightly brush each slice with lemon juice to help prevent browning.
Cooking
  1. Cook the banana slices at 250°F for 20 to 30 minutes until they are dried out and lightly golden.
  2. Check the chips starting around 20 minutes and remove any that are done, as smaller slices will finish first.
  3. Allow the banana chips to cool completely for about 10 minutes—they will crisp up as they sit.
Serving
  1. If desired, toss the cooled chips with cinnamon sugar or sprinkle with cinnamon for a lightly spiced version.

Notes

Store cooled banana chips in an airtight container for longer freshness. Experiment with flavors by adding a sprinkle of nutmeg or cayenne for a unique twist.
